Australian Abandoned Places, Urbex

When it comes to abandoned places in the world, Australia is not high up there on the list of places to travel but believe me we hold our own. There are still many untouched and decaying factories, crumbling asylums, rusty turbines of long disused power plants and houses being reclaimed by nature, around for us in the urban scene to explore and photograph before there gone.   Over the past few years I’ve been lucky enough to visit some amazing places before they were demolished or destroyed, meeting other like minded people that also have a passion for photographing abandoned buildings, along the way. Urbex has been a great way to make new friends as we get together on road trips to find new locations.  Finding new locations often leads to that excitement you haven’t felt since your childhood days. Once you find a location it opens a can of worms with you needing to know all you can on the place, why is it abandoned, the history behind it, what’s in its future, and so on. ...

River flowing, birds chirping and the smell of coffee

Personally I’ve spent more then enough time in the city with the never ending noise, surrounded by 1000s of people. How can you call going to a coffee shop, waiting inline for a hipster made barista coffee relaxing? Nope, that’s not for me! So the first chance I had when we had a bit of downtime I headed out bush just west of Warwick for a relaxing coffee by the river, water flowing over the rocks, surrounded by the sounds of wildlife, a peaceful coffee on the river bank, can you think of a better way to reboot your mental health?

This area is just a short drive from but it’s been a great place to spend an afternoon ever since I was a teenager. There currently is more water out here than I have seen in 20 years and some areas I wanted to visit were under water! The green grass and orange sunset just added to that perfect way to finish the day.

While we personally prefer to cook with fire ( I will be doing some blogs on that shortly! ) for boiling water you can’t go past the Jetboil!! These thing setups, boils water and cools down faster than a kettle at home! When looking at reviews on them I did find people saying that the igniter switch fails and ours did too BUT it’s a simple fix!! Bend the igniter wire back up you have knock it down ( I’ll do a how to fix Jetboil video soon ) I cannot praise this item enough we love it!

Well this blog wasn’t ment to be a plug for Jetboil! Was just a starting blog to introduce you to Millard Life, we will be posting more blogs and videos in the near future. If you would like to hear more from us please let us know!!

Here’s a short video of us looking for that perfect location to have a coffee, enjoy
