Australian Abandoned Places, Urbex
When it comes to abandoned places in the world, Australia is not high up there on the list of places to travel but believe me we hold our own. There are still many untouched and decaying factories, crumbling asylums, rusty turbines of long disused power plants and houses being reclaimed by nature, around for us in the urban scene to explore and photograph before there gone. Over the past few years I’ve been lucky enough to visit some amazing places before they were demolished or destroyed, meeting other like minded people that also have a passion for photographing abandoned buildings, along the way. Urbex has been a great way to make new friends as we get together on road trips to find new locations. Finding new locations often leads to that excitement you haven’t felt since your childhood days. Once you find a location it opens a can of worms with you needing to know all you can on the place, why is it abandoned, the history behind it, what’s in its future, and so on. ...
